To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand the art and appeal of speedrunning. The skill is extremely impressive, and without a solid grasp of RNG memorization most of the appeal will go over a typical person's head. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate the depths of these speedruns, to realize that they're not just watching games being played- they say something deep about LIFE. As a consequence people who dislike speedrunning truly don't know what they're missing- of course they wouldn't appreciate, for instance, the humour in GDQ's existential catchphrases "Kill the animals / Save the animals," which itself raises true moral questions about whether frames matter more than saving lives. I'm smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads wondering how people could be into watching speedruns. What fools... how I pity them.
