Pokémon will always hold a special place in my heart—it's one of the game series I really grew up with as a child. I was a teenager when Gold and Silver were released in the States—I asked my mother if I could get Silver, and she surprised me with copies of both games, on top of the Blue and Yellow versions I already owned. In the last year, she's fought her own battle with cancer, and after months of radiation and chemotherapy treatments, this week was her first back at work doing what she loves most. We don't always see eye to eye, or get along—what parents and children do?—but I am super proud of the hard work she's put into her recovery, and thankful for her love and support even if I don't always show it. Thank you, Mom. Thank you to all the staff and crew at AGDQ this year for the work you've put in at making this event as classy and enjoyable a thing as it is every year, and good luck to all the remaining runners! |
