Donating on behalf of my brother-in-law, Greg, who is a pediatric nurse. One day in the hospital he was tending to a small boy who was suffering from a bacterial infection in his gut. The poor little kid was really hurting. They started talking about video games, and the boy mentioned that he loved Super Mario Odyssey. Greg was able to take the time to show the boy Nicroveda’s SGDQ 2018 Odyssey Any% run on his phone. For an hour the boy watched in awe at the speed and movement tech, a precious hour completely distracted from his pain. When the run ended he couldn’t wait for his parents to bring him his Switch so he could start practicing to become a speed-runner, too. It’s great when games can be their own kind of medicine.
