Contract work is typically focused around the events, while employee positions work year-round. The Host Volunteer Coordinator is expected to work as part of a two-person team to assemble, run, and support volunteer hosts at mainline events: Awesome Games Done Quick and Summer Games Done Quick. This includes selecting hosts for the team by running an audition process, providing training, orientation, and feedback to hosts, and managing any issues that may arise throughout the event related to the hosting team, such as schedule changes/backup shifts, feedback, and cross-department procedure updates. The Host Volunteer Coordinators are also responsible for communicating with other departments to manage the scope and responsibilities of the Host Volunteer role.
Games Done Quick teams work remotely between events and attend events on-site. As a Host Volunteer Coordinator, your responsibilities will be a mix of offsite pre-event duties and on-site event work. All responsibilities are shared jointly with the other Host Volunteer Coordinator and the two of you will work closely together as a team.
Select the team of hosts to volunteer at each event. For example, for auditions this may include:
Preparing audition materials
Prepare the host volunteers for the event
Create the hosting schedule based on hosts' availability and preferences
Prepare the host volunteers for the event

Coordinate with other applicable departments (including tech, games committee, and production) on any process changes for the event
Collect and discuss feedback from each event, both as a host coordinator team and with other departments as applicable
Attend meetings via phone or online meeting software
Run any in-person orientations
Handle any schedule changes that may occur
Work with other departments on any issues that arise (ex. process issues with production, tech issues with the host tools, etc.)
Oversee continuous coverage and presence in the stream room from either a Host Coordinator or a volunteer assistant
Provide feedback or guidance to the host team as needed
Provide support to the host team to ensure they can do their best hosting
Coordinate with Games Committee, Production and other departments to ensure a smooth and stable flow of the event
Work with sponsorships to ensure required deliverables are accomplished.
Be on-call for any event and host-related emergencies Cover hosting shifts if necessary

The Hotfix Showrunner will be responsible for planning and hosting recurring bi-weekly shows as part of the Games Done Quick Hotfix show roster which are live streamed on Twitch and archived on YouTube. The purpose of this position is to provide entertaining speedrunning or speedrunning adjacent programming to the GDQ audience between mainline events.
The ideal candidate for the Hotfix Showrunner position is a self-starter with experience planning events or event schedules, organizing and coordinating talent, has experience in hosting, emceeing, or engaging with an audience via streaming, and is an active member of the speedrunning community.
This position requires outstanding communication and organizational skills, teamwork, collaboration, and experience in streaming or hosting on live broadcasts.
